Eager to welcome her new bundle of joy into the world, I met Maddy at a quiet conservation area in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory for her Spring maternity session. She showed up in a vibrant, blue dress and stood out beautifully against the forested backdrop along the Salmon River.
The morning of this session called for rain, but we decided to meet during the best hours of the day according to the forecast. Once I arrived the clouds seemed to drift away and the rain stopped - thank goodness! As I walked around the park scouting for different opportunities, I placed a stool that I had brought in front of some tall sumac trees along the river, thinking this would be a perfect place to get some portraits in her second outfit.
Once Maddy arrived the rain picked up again, but she absolutely embraced it and showed up with such good vibes! We walked through the gate and down a short trail to what seemed to be the tallest tree around. After snapping a few quick shots here we walked over to the riverbed. A few weeks prior the water was quite shallow, exposing the limestone along the edges but on this day the river was roaring from the storm passing through. When we arrived to the edge of the shoreline I had Maddy stand looking out into the horizon while I backed myself into the bushes to get the shot. If you've had a session with me already then I'm sure you can imagine what I looked like! Haha.
As we backed away from the riverbed Maddy headed over to her car to switch into the second outfit - shoutout to all of the pregnant mammas that change in their cars for an outdoor session, I've been there and it isn't easy! Coming out of her car completely glowing in the jean and tank combo, we walked over to the pre-positioned stool and started making some magic!
Just before we ran back into our cars to hide from the rain, she hopped onto the rock wall that outlined the parking lot and captured the last few moments of the session. Overall, despite the rain, high winds and cool temperature Maddy absolutely rocked her photoshoot and I had such a blast documenting her baby bump. I wish all the best to her and her new little family!
